5 DIY Face Masks for Dull Skin
Dull skin can be caused by a variety of factors, including dead skin cell buildup caused by lack of exfoliation, aging, dryness, stress, not removing makeup before bed, lack of sleep, wrong skincare products, and more. To brighten up your complexion, you need to remove these factors or at least minimize their influence (because, unfortunately, nothing can stop skin aging), as well as give your skin a boost with serums or face masks. Here are 5 DIY face mask recipes for dull skin that may come in handy.
Avocado Mask for Dry Skin
Skin dryness is one of the main causes of dull complexion. To restore your skin’s natural healthy glow, you need to provide it with the moisture and nutrients it lacks. This mask contains avocado and olive oil, which are a good source of omega fatty acids that nourish the skin, and soothing ingredients (honey and yogurt) that help to get rid of skin redness and flaking.
Cut a ripe avocado in half, remove the pit and scoop out the flesh. Add 2 tbsp plain (unsweetened and unflavored) yogurt, 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil and 1 tbsp organic honey. Mix all the ingredients together until smooth. Apply the mixture to your skin, let it sit for at least 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Papaya Mask for Healthy Glow
Papaya contains papain, an enzyme that breaks down the bonds between dead cells and the skin. As a result, it acts as a chemical exfoliant, revealing new healthy skin. In addition to papaya, this face mask contains honey that nourishes the skin and egg white that binds the mask together and has a skin brightening effect.
Scoop out the flesh from a ripe papaya and mash it with a fork. For this mask, you’ll need about ½ cup papaya puree. Add 1 whipped egg white and 1 tsp honey, mix all the ingredients until well-blended and apply the mask to your face. After 15 minutes or so, rinse it off and moisturize.

Banana & Turmeric Mask for Acne-Prone Skin
If your skins is prone to both acne and dull complexion, you should try this mask and maybe even incorporate it into your skincare routine. Banana will provide your skin with nutrients, baking soda will absorb excess skin oil and act as a gentle exfoliant, and turmeric powder will kill acne-causing bacteria and prevent inflammation. Together, these ingredients will work to restore your healthy complexion.
Mash a ripe banana with a fork. Add ½ tsp baking soda and ½ tsp turmeric powder. Stir well and apply to your skin. Turmeric may cause a light tingling sensation, which is normal, but if your skin begins to itch or burn, wash your face immediately. If everything is okay, rinse the mask off in about 15 minutes.
