Due to its high unsaturated fat content, avocado oil is characterized by very high skin penetration and rapid absorption. It hydrates the skin almost instantly and enhances the absorption of carotenoids and other nutrients, which makes it a great ingredient for DIY face masks.

Avocado Mask

The mask is perfect for extremely dry skin that needs extra hydration and nutrients. Mash ½ ripe avocado in a bowl, add ½ tsp avocado oil and mix thoroughly until smooth. Apply the mask to clean skin, avoiding the area around the eyes, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water followed by cool water for extra rejuvenating effect.

Avocado Oil & Egg White Mask

This face mask contains only three ingredients and has a 3-in-1 effect: it moisturizes the skin thanks to avocado oil, tightens it thanks to egg whites, and produces a whitening effect thanks to lemon juice. Take one egg, carefully remove the yolk and put the white in a small bowl or cup. Add 1 tbsp avocado oil and 1 tsp lemon juice, mix well. Avocado Oil, Banana & Egg Yolk Mask

Mix all ingredients together with a whisk or hand blender until smooth. Apply the mask to your face and neck and let it sit for some time (the longer, the better). Then, rinse with lukewarm water. To make the mask, mix 1 tbsp liquid honey, 1 tbsp avocado oil, and 1 tbsp plain, unsweetened and unflavored Greek yogurt. Apply the mixture to clean skin and gently massage with your fingertips for 5 minutes. Then, let it sit for another ten minutes and wash your face with mild soap and lukewarm water.

Avocado Oil & Turmeric Mask

Avocado oil is non-comedogenic; it can be used to treat acne and prevent acne scars. In this mask, it is combined with turmeric, a spice with antiseptic properties that eliminates the acne-causing bacteria. To make a DIY acne treatment, mix 4–5 drops avocado oil with a pinch of turmeric to get a soft paste. Apply the paste on the acne and leave it for about 15 minutes, them wash your face with warm water and mild soap. Apply the paste once every day until there’s no trace of acne left. You can substitute or complement turmeric with an essential oil such as tea tree oil, lavender oil, eucalyptus oil, etc. (practically all essential oils have antibacterial and antiseptic properties).

This is a nutrient-rich mask for dehydrated skin with a light exfoliating effect. It helps to make the skin smoother and combats flaking. Mix 1 tbsp avocado oil, 1 tbsp low-fat cream, and 1 tbsp finely ground oatmeal. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes, then apply to clean skin and leave for 20 minutes. Massage your face gently with your fingertips before rinsing.
