5 Homemade Coffee Face Scrub Recipes

5 Homemade Coffee Face Scrub RecipesFacial scrubs with plastic microbeads are gentle to the skin, but alas they are not eco-friendly, so environmentally conscious consumers avoid them. Luckily, there are plenty of natural exfoliating agents that are suitable even for sensitive skin. Ground coffee is one of them. If you’re a fan of DIY facial scrubs with natural ingredients, check out these amazing coffee face scrub recipes that you can try at home.

Coconut & Honey Coffee Face Scrub

This homemade face scrub contains only three ingredients that ensure a cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, nourishing, antibacterial and anti-fungal effect. Coffee grounds polish the skin and make it smoother, coconut oil provides the skin with nutrients and keeps it hydrated, and honey has antimicrobial and soothing properties.

Melt ½ cup of coconut oil in a microwave or a double boiler. Add 1 tbsp regular or manuka honey (if it’s too thick, you can melt it as well, just don’t let it boil) and 1 cup of fresh coffee grounds. Mix all ingredients together until well-combined. Gently apply the scrub over your face, massage the skin with fingertips, and remove the scrub with a warm, wet washcloth.

If you’re allergic to honey, you can leave it out. The scrub will work just fine even without this ingredient.

Shea Butter & Coffee Face Scrub

If you have dry skin that needs extra nourishment and hydration, try adding shea butter to your coffee face scrub. This amazing ingredient is one of the best natural moisturizers. It will prevent redness, itching and flaking, as well as make your skin soft and supple.

Melt ¼ cup coconut oil and add 2 tbsp shea butter. Mix until smooth. Add 5 tbsp ground coffee and 10 drops of your favorite essential oil. You can use peppermint oil for a refreshing and energizing effect, lavender oil to soothe the skin, etc. If you’re not a fan of essential oils, skip this ingredient altogether. Mix everything until well-blended. Apply the scrub to your face, massage gently for 10 minutes, then rinse it off.

Aloe Vera & Coffee Face Scrub

Aloe vera is one of the best natural moisturizers for all skin types. In addition, it soothes the skin, inhibits the growth of pathogenic flora, and even speeds up the healing of cuts and acne scars. This lightweight facial scrub is perfect for summertime.

Mix ¼ cup of coffee grounds with 3 tbsp organic aloe vera gel. Apply the mixture to wet skin and massage for 10 minutes. Leave the scrub for another 10 minutes, letting the aloe gel absorb and hydrate your skin from the inside and give it a healthy glow, then wash off the residue.

Mix 2 tbsp coffee grounds, 2 tbsp cocoa powder and ½ tsp ground cinnamon. Add 3 tbsp plain, unsweetened yogurt (preferably organic) and 1 tbsp honey. Stir well, spread the mixture on your face, massage gently for a couple of minutes before washing off.
