5 Tips to Help Your Skin Recover from a Friday Night Out
Friday night is the time to de-stress from the work week and relax with your friends, have a couple of drinks and maybe hit the dance floor. And there’s nothing wrong with this, but sometimes we lose control and party too hard even though we have plans for Saturday and won’t have enough time to recuperate. If you’ve had a few too many drinks on Friday and need to look presentable on Saturday, here are 5 tips to help your skin recover from a Friday night out.
Wash Your Face with Warm Water
You may be tempted to wash your face with cold water to refresh it, but it will be a stress for your skin, which is already stressed out as it is. What your skin needs right now is gentle cleansing with a mild facial wash without aggressive surfactants and warm or lukewarm, but not cold, water. If you want a refreshing effect, splash your face with cool water after washing and gently pat it dry.

Give Yourself a Facial Massage
Facial massage improves blood circulation and lymph drainage, resulting in a bright and glowing complexion. As an added benefit, it reduces stress and leaves you feeling relaxed. If you have never given yourself a facial massage and don’t know how to do it, simply search “facial massage” or “lymph drainage facial massage” on YouTube, open the first video that pops up and follow the instructions. For an additional relaxing effect, try searching “ASMR facial massage” (although ASMR doesn’t work for everyone, and it may not work for you, but you never know till you try).

Drink Some Green Tea… and Utilize Tea Bags
Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning that consuming alcohol makes you pee more and causes dehydration if you forget to drink water. The next day, your body retains fluid to make up for the loss, resulting in swelling and puffiness. If you need to get rid of puffy eyes and dark circles after a Friday night out but have no under eye patches, use good old tea bags instead.
Brew two bags of green tea, squeeze out excess liquid and put the tea bags in the fridge for about ten minutes. Then take them out of the fridge, lie down, close your eyes and place the tea bags on your eyelids for 5 to 10 minutes. Green tea contains caffeine that narrows blood vessels and theophylline that relieves inflammation.

Use an Anti-Acne Patch
Drinking too much alcohol can result in breakouts in people with acne-prone skin. If you’ve got a pimple after a Friday night out, use a special anti-acne patch to soothe inflammation; it will draw water and pus out, and your skin will become clear again. You can also use an acne spot treatment that delivers acne-fighting ingredients directly to blemishes and reduces redness and swelling. What you mustn’t do, under any circumstances, is pick and squeeze your pimples, because it will lead to more inflammation and scarring.

Apply a Soothing Mask
To help your skin recover after a night out and restore its glowing radiance, you need to hydrate and soothe it. Try a sheet mask that will provide your skin with the moisture and nutrients it needs, as well as help your relax. Sheet masks are literally soaked in serum that will revitalize your skin in no time. Look for active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, ceramides, panthenol and gotu kola (centella). They will restore your skin’s natural protective barrier. Follow the mask with your regular moisturizer.
