4 Natural Products to Get Rid of Acne Scars
Acne is one of the most common skin problems, affecting nearly 90% of people at some point during their life (typically during the adolescence) and about 20% of adults. Some people pick or pop breakouts, which leads to additional problems, such as inflammation and acne scars. These scars can be hard to get rid of, but there are certain products that lighten the skin and make dark spots caused by acne less visible.
Lemon
Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent due to its high content of citric acid. Citric acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that speeds up the peeling of dead skin cells and boosts skin regeneration and renewal. Applying lemon juice to your acne scars will reduce their appearance and give you an even skin tone.
How to use. Cut a lemon in half, squeeze some juice and apply it to the spots on your face using a cotton swab. Leave the juice on your face for about 15 minutes, than rinse it off. Keep in mind that lemon can make your skin more sensitive to UV radiation, so don’t forget to apply sunscreen before going out in the sun.

Essential Oils
Absolutely all essential oils have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, but some are better at healing and lightening the skin than others. The best essential oils for treating acne scars include lavender oil, tea tree oil, carrot seed oil, geranium oil, cedarwood oil, hyssop oil, and frankincense oil.
How to use. Since concentrated essential oils can irritate the skin and even cause chemical burns, they need to be diluted before use. Mix 1-2 drops of essential oil with some lightweight carrier oil (for example, grapeseed or sweet almond) and apply the mixture to acne scars. Do not rinse.

Turmeric
Turmeric powder isn’t just a spice. It has long been used in traditional medicine due to containing curcumin, a biologically active substance with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It slows down the production of melanin (a substance that contributes to skin pigmentation) and speeds up the production of new skin cells.
How to use. Mix some turmeric with an equal amount of raw organic honey. Apply the resulting paste to your acne scars, keep it on for about 20 minutes, then wash your face with cool water. Like turmeric, honey is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, which makes the treatment even more effective. If you have oily skin, you can mix turmeric with lemon juice instead of honey.

Rose Hip Oil
Rose hip oil is a carrier oil cold pressed from the seeds of the fruit of the rose plant. It contains essential fatty acids (oleic, palmitic, linoleic), vitamins A and C, and other compounds that are beneficial for your skin. Due to containing antioxidants, rose hip oil brightens the skin, evens out skin tone, and reduces skin hyperpigmentation, minimizing the appearance of dark spots caused by acne.
How to use. Apply a drop of rose hip oil to each imperfection on your face. Wait until the oil absorbs and blot the residue with a paper tissue or a cotton pad. You can try mixing rose hip oil with black cumin oil for a more pronounced effect.
