5 DIY Face Masks for Dry Skin

Aloe Vera Mask
Aloe vera leaf gel is one of the most popular skin moisturizers. In addition to providing your skin with moisture, it relieves itching and flaking, as well as stimulates skin regeneration and renewal. The mask also contains egg yolk and heavy cream that nourish the skin and improve complexion.
In a small bowl, combine an egg yolk, 2 tbsp aloe vera gel (or pureed aloe leaves) and 2 tbsp heavy cream. Mix until smooth and apply the mixture to the clean skin of your face. Let the mask sit for 20–25 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water.

Honey Mask for Flaky Skin

Mix 1 tsp organic honey with 1 tbsp carrier oil (for example, grapeseed, peach kernel, apricot kernel, sweet almond or wheat germ). Apply the mixture to dry and flaky patches, lightly massaging with fingertips. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes, then remove with a water-soaked cotton ball.

Super Nourishing Mask with Fruit
This mask is designed for dry skin that needs an instant boost. The original recipe includes banana, but you can substitute it with some other fruit. For example, kiwi and papaya have additional exfoliating benefits due to containing enzymes that act as a delicate chemical peel. Other fruit that will be great for your skin include ripe apricots, strawberries and persimmon.
Combine 1 tbsp shea or cocoa butter, 1 tbsp pureed fruit pulp and 1 tsp honey. Mash all ingredients with a fork and whisk together until lump-free and smooth. Apply the mixture to your face and relax for 20-25 minutes. Wash the mask off with warm water, pat your face dry and apply moisturizer.

In a bowl, combine 1 tsp dry mustard powder with some lukewarm water to get a paste. Add 1 tbsp carrier oil (for example, olive oil, apricot kernel oil or melted coconut oil) and mix well. Apply the mixture to your face, avoiding the area around the eyes, and let it sit for 5–7 minutes. Wash your face with warm water and apply moisturizer.

Soothing Face Mask for Dehydrated Skin
If your skin needs active hydration, this mask is just what you need. In addition to providing your skin with the moisture it needs, it has a pronounced calming effect and combats pigmentation (due to the fact that yogurt is a good source of lactic acid that has exfoliating and skin whitening properties).
Peel and grate half of a medium-sized cucumber, add several tablespoons of plain, unsweetened yogurt (preferably organic) and mix well. Apply the mixture to your skin and lie down for 20 minutes. After rinsing the mask off, apply moisturizer.
