5 Homemade Yogurt Face Masks for Bright and Glowing Skin

5 Homemade Yogurt Face Masks for Bright and Glowing SkinLive yogurt has a lot of astonishing benefits for the skin: it keeps the skin nourished and hydrated, prevents premature ageing, lightens skin tone, fights breakouts, reduces the appearance of acne scars, soothes sunburned skin… This list could go on and on. If you want proof, try these homemade yogurt face masks that will make your skin bright and glowing.

Yogurt & Strawberry Face Mask

If you want to give your skin a powerful vitamin boost, this mask is what you need! Yogurt is a good source of vitamins B2 and B12, while strawberry is rich in vitamin C, which has antioxidant properties. In addition, both ingredients contain alpha hydroxy acids (lactic acid for yogurt and salicylic acid for strawberry) that have exfoliating and skin lightening properties. This mask also contains honey that nourishes the skin and protects it against bacteria.

Take two very ripe strawberries and mash them with a fork until you get a smooth puree. Add 1 tsp raw honey (preferably organic) and 1 tsp plain, unsweetened yogurt. Apply the mixture onto your skin, let it sit for 15 minutes, then wash your face with warm water. Since honey is sticky, this mask can be hard to rinse off. If this is your case, don’t rub your face; use a wet washcloth to remove the mask gently.

Nourishing Face Mask for Dry and Flaky Skin

If your skin is in dire need of intensive hydration and nourishment, try this mask. Alongside yogurt that soothes the skin and reduces flaking, it contains olive oil and avocado that are rich in fatty acids. Together these ingredients will revitalize your skin, make it soft and supple, and protect it from the environment.

Take a quarter of a ripe avocado and mash it with a fork. Add 1 tsp live yogurt and 1 tsp olive oil. You can substitute olive oil with other carrier oils if you want; grapeseed oil, jojoba oil or sweet almond oil should work great, too. Mix all ingredients together to get a smooth, thick paste. Apply the paste to your clean face, leave it on for 15 minutes, and wash your face with warm water.

Exfoliating Face Mask for Acne-Prone Skin

This mask consists of oatmeal, yogurt and honey. Oatmeal gently polishes the skin and absorbs excess sebum, preventing blackheads and acne breakouts. Honey kills acne-causing bacteria, as well as softens and nourishes the skin. Finally, yogurt acts as a mild chemical exfoliant thanks to containing lactic acid, prevents irritation and inflammation, and brightens the skin.

Combine 1 tsp probiotic yogurt, 1 tsp raw honey and 1 tsp oatmeal. Mix well to get a smooth paste. Apply the mixture to your skin, let it sit for 15 minutes, then wash your face with warm water.

Matcha & Yogurt Face Mask

Matcha (green tea powder) is an incredible source of natural antioxidants for your skin. It neutralizes free radicals and reduces oxidative damage, preventing premature skin aging. Other ingredients in this mask are yogurt and honey. We’ve already told about their benefits in the recipes above, so we won’t repeat ourselves, you already know all about it!

In a small bowl, combine 2 tbsp active yogurt from whole milk, 2 tbsp matcha powder and 1 tsp raw honey. Mix all ingredients together and apply to clean face. In about 15 minutes, wash your face with warm water.

Charcoal & Turmeric Detox Face Mask

There’s nothing wrong with having a little fun, but, unfortunately, late-night partying takes a toll on our skin, especially as we get older. To revitalize your skin after a night out and make it look fresh and glowing, you need to help it get rid of toxins. This mask contains activated charcoal that will draw toxins out of your skin and gently exfoliate your skin. It also contains turmeric that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Combine ½ tsp whole milk yogurt, ½ tsp activated charcoal powder and ¼ tsp ground turmeric. Mix all ingredients until smooth. Stir in about ½ tsp witch hazel extract. Apply the mixture to your face, wait for 20 minutes, then wash the mask off with warm water.
