The Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, also known as simply Auto China, is one of China’s two leading auto shows, along with the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai). Both shows are held biennially, alternating between odd and even years.

Auto China was established in 1990 and has since become one of the world’s leading auto shows. It has been accredited by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) along with major auto shows in Detroit, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Geneva, and Paris. The event is organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, a government body responsible for the development of business cooperation with foreign countries.

China is currently the largest and fastest growing automobile market in the world, so no wonder that Auto China is regarded as an extremely important trade event. The country’s automotive industry has been the largest in the world measured by automobile unit production for about a decade. The traditional “Big Four” domestic car manufacturers in China are Chang’an, FAW, Dongfeng and SIAC Motor. They use Auto China as a platform to showcase their latest car models.

However, Auto China is more than just a platform for domestic manufacturers. The event features plenty of foreign participants that want to be represented in China’s dynamic and promising auto market. International manufactures and brands that have showcased their production and concept cars at the show include Acura, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Citroën, Ferrari, Jaguar, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Porsche, Renault, Volkswagen, and others.

The Beijing Motor Show is held in April in even years. Its main venues are the China International Exhibition Center New Venue and the China International Exhibition Center Old Venue, with a combined exhibition space of 220,000 square meters. The show features over 2,000 exhibitors from around the world, showcasing cutting-edge technology in the automotive industry.
