4 Amazing Facial Masks with Sweet Almond Oil

4 Amazing Facial Masks with Sweet Almond OilSweet almond oil is one of the most widely used carrier oils because of its light texture and high content of monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E, proteins, potassium, and zinc. It is a mild, hypoallergenic oil that can be safely used even on very sensitive skin, which makes it a common ingredient in DIY facial masks. Here are 4 amazing masks with sweet almond oil which you should try at home.

Almonds are a rich source of oil, with 50% of kernel dry mass as fat. Almond oil consists of oleic acid (a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid), linoleic acid (a polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid), and palmitic acid (a saturated fatty acid). The oil is also a rich source of tocopherol (vitamin E), a natural antioxidant that prevents premature skin aging.

Facial masks with almond oil are suitable for all skin types, but they are especially great for taking care of thin, dry, aging, and overly sensitive skin. They make the skin firmer, improve its elasticity and flexibility, smooth out fine lines, make the skin soft and supple, lock in moisture, and even help treat some skin conditions such as rashes, eczema, and psoriasis.

Sweet Almond Oil & Avocado Face Mask

Like sweet almond oil, avocado is a rich source of essential fatty acids. When combined together, they actively nourish the skin and make it glow. The mask also contains lemon juice that helps fight acne and improves complexion.

In a bowl, mix 1 tbsp of ripe avocado flesh,1 tsp of sweet almond oil, 1 tsp of crème fraîche or plain yogurt, and 1 tsp of honey. Squeeze in some lemon juice (just a few drops) and mash all ingredients together with a fork until well blended. To make things quicker and easier, you can use a food processor. Spread the mask over clean skin and let it sit for 20 minutes, then gently remove it from your face using a lukewarm, damp washcloth.

Whitening Face Mask with Almond Oil

If you want to make your skin lighter or reduce pigmentation, check out this face mask with sweet almond oil. Mix 1 tsp of powdered milk, 1 tsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp of honey, and ½ tsp of sweet almond oil. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it for 10–15 minutes, then rinse off with cool water.

Anti-Acne Face Mask with Egg Yolk and Almond Oil

Egg yolk is rich in vitamin A (retinol), which is known to combat acne and prevent breakouts. It stimulates skin regeneration and even reduces fine lines. Almond oil nourishes and hydrates the skin without clogging your pores. The mask also contains honey that fights acne-causing microbes.

Mix 1 tbsp of almond oil, 1 egg yolk, 1 tbsp of honey, and 1 tbsp of plain yogurt. Blend all ingredients together to form a thick paste. If the honey is too thick and therefore hard to mix, you can warm it a little bit in a microwave or double boiler. Apply the mask to your face and neck, let it sit for 15 minutes, rinse off with warm water, and pat your skin dry.

Almond Oil & Turmeric Brightening Face Mask

Turmeric is a bright yellow spice that is widely used in Asian cuisine. It has potent anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, as well as helps brighten the skin tone. This particular brightening mask with turmeric is designed for dry skin, that’s why its other key ingredient is almond oil with its nourishing and moisturizing properties.

Mix ¼ tsp of turmeric powder and 2 tbsp of cornstarch or flour (the latter ingredient doesn’t have any cosmetic effect, it simply acts as a thickener). Once combined, stir in 2-3 drops of runny honey and 2 tbsp of sweet almond oil. Stir well until a thick, creamy paste is formed. Add more oil if you would like it less thick. Apply the mixture to your face and neck, let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes, then remove the mask with a warm, wet washcloth. Keep in mind that turmeric will turn the washcloth yellow, so be sure to use one that you don’t mind staining.
