The Salon du Chocolate is a series of trade fairs dedicated to one of the most beloved foods in the world. Founded in Paris in 1994, it has spread across the world with editions in major cities such as Beijing, Beirut, Bologna, Brussels, Cairo, Cologne, Lima, London, Milan, Moscow, Seoul, Shanghai, Zurich, and more. Over two decades, the Salon du Chocolate has attracted 6.5 million visitors with over 160 shows on several continents.
The inaugural edition of the Salon du Chocolate Moscow (Moscow Chocolate Show) took place in December 2006 as a part of the Food Show Gastronomy Festival. It featured 40 exhibitors and attracted 12,000 visitors. The show went on a hiatus after is third edition in 2008 but was revived in 2015 as a standalone event not associated with Food Show.
The program of the Salon du Chocolate Moscow is similar to that of its sister festivals. Its epicenter is a large exposition featuring exhibitors from Russia and other countries that showcase the finest chocolate, sweets, pastries and sometimes other products such as honey, coffee, cocoa, tea, and even handmade cosmetics.
Although the exposition is the heart of the event, the Moscow Chocolate Show is so much more than just an expo. Its program includes live demonstrations conducted by local and international chocolatiers and pastry chefs, masterclasses for children, industry conferences, and a spectacular fashion show.
The Salon’s pastry show is a series of demonstrations where famous chefs and chocolatiers share some of the trade secrets and uncover unique recipes. Of course, these demonstrations are followed by tastings of the chocolate masterpieces created by chefs. Workshops for children and grown-ups give attendees the opportunity to learn more about chocolate and create delicious chocolate dressers with their own hands. Finally, the chocolate show is the highlight of the Salon du Chocolat around the world. It features elaborate gowns created by famous fashion designers in collaboration with chocolatiers.
