The inaugural edition of the Bahrain Garden Show was held in 2004. It was a success among both agricultural experts and gardening enthusiasts, so it was decided to make it an annual event. Over the years, the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) has grown to become a major platform for experts and enthusiasts to further develop their expertise and knowledge with the latest best practices in the industry.
The exhibition features agricultural organizations and relevant companies from all over Bahrain and abroad. It offers the exhibitors a great opportunity to showcase their products and services to a wide local and regional audience. The event also attracts potential investors that seek profitable agricultural investment opportunities. Its attendees include architects, consultants, developers and other industry professionals, as well as gardening enthusiasts.
The Bahrain Garden Show showcases the very latest in garden and landscaping technology, design and equipment. The exhibition is divided into four major sections: Garden Care, Garden Design & Landscaping, Garden Leisure, and Plants & Nursery. The fifth section, Institutes & Educational organizations, is dedicated to exchanging expertise and networking rather than promoting products and services. It features trade and industry associations, gardening training centers, agriculture research and development organizations, and floral design programs.
Each edition of the Bahrain International Garden Show has a theme. For example, the 2017 show was dedicated to compact gardens and urban gardening in small spaces. It showcased ideas for roof and terrace gardening, container gardening, raised bed gardening, and vertical gardens.
BIGS is held under the patronage of the King of Bahrain and the continued support of his wife, the Queen consort of Bahrain. Its main organizer is the National Initiative for Agricultural Development that focuses on developing the agricultural industry in Bahrain. The show takes place at the Bahrain International Convention & Exhibition Center located in Bahrain’s capital, Manama.
