Cake and Cunnilingus Day Date in the current year: April 14, 2024

Valentine’s Day originated as a Christian feast day honoring a 3rd-century Roman saint who performed clandestine weddings for Christian soldiers who were forbidden to marry by the Roman emperor. Since the High Middle Ages, Saint Valentine has been venerated as the patron saint of love and marriage. Although his liturgical celebration was removed from the official calendar of the Catholic Church in 1969, millions of people around the globe celebrate Valentine’s Day every year regardless of their religious beliefs.

Valentine’s Day has become significantly commercialized over the past decades, which has led to emergence of various satirical holidays inspired by it such as White Day and Black Day in South Korea, Steak & BJ Day, and Cake and Cunnilingus Day. Steak & BJ Day was conceived by radio DJ Tom Birdsay in 2002. On March 14, a month after Valentine’s Day, women are expected to “repay” men for the gifts they received on Valentine’s Day with a steak and oral sex.

Four years later, women came up with their equivalent to Steak & BJ Day. Cake and Cunnilingus Day, celebrated on April 14, was created by filmmaker, author and web designer who goes by the nickname Ms. Naughty. Its main goal is to honor and empower women and celebrate their enjoyment. On this day, women are supposed to eat as much cake as they want and receive oral sex from their partners.

Although Steak & BJ Day has been criticized as sexist, it has been used to raise funds for breast cancer research. Similarly, Cake and Cunnilingus Day has been used to support charities that spread prostate cancer awareness.
