5 Homemade Salt Body Scrub Recipes
Exfoliation is an important part of any skincare routine. Body scrubs and peels help remove dead cells, dirt and grime from the skin surface, unclog and tighten pores, make the skin soft and smooth, stimulate microcirculation, and help reduce the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks. If you’re a fan of DIY cosmetics, check out these homemade salt body scrub recipes.
Scrubs are used for mechanical exfoliation that involves physically scrubbing the skin with an abrasive. They can contain abrasives such as microbeads (tiny plastic particles), salt or sugar crystals, crushed almond shells or apricot kernels, berry seeds, pumice, etc. Salt scrubs are quite popular among consumers because salt crystals effectively polish the skin without scratching it (provided they aren’t too big and rough) and dissolve easily, which helps prevent drain clogging.
