How to Wash Your Hair

How to Wash Your HairWashing hair can seem simple, but it is a very responsible and important procedure.

If you do it wrong, you can damage your hair. As a result it will become dull and brittle and might even start falling out. That's why it is essential to know how to wash your hair.

First, let's dwell on how often hair should be washed. Earlier it was recommended to wash hair about 1 time per 5-7 days. But today this recommendation is not acceptable. Hair should be washed according to the individual peculiarities of a person. For instance, if you have greasy hair or you style it too often, you can even wash it every day. But in this case the shampoo should be very soft.

By the way, the choice of shampoo is also very important. Because if shampoo is not appropriate it won't be of use. You should use the proper shampoo for your hair type. For example, dry hair needs shampoo with a great number of moisturizing and nourishing components. Shampoo for greasy hair should contain drying (tanning) substances.

The temperature and hardness of water also mean a lot. You must wash hair neither with very cold nor very hot water. The most appropriate temperature for washing hair is a little higher than human body temperature, that is roughly 104° F. As for the hardness of water it should have low mineral content. It is recommended to use filtered water. If you use tap water, boil it or add baking soda or smelling salts to make it soft.

The Procedure of Washing Hair

First, rub sufficient amount of shampoo into your palms, lather and spread it from the roots to the ends of your hair. Massage your hair from 30 sec to 1 min and then rinse the shampoo away from your hair with running water. After washing the hair you can use conditioner, hair mask or other hair care products.

Do not rub your hair or scratch the scalp too strong. It can damage your hair. Wring out and blot your hair with a towel. Do not hurry to brush your hair. Wait till it dries up a little. Use special spray to make brushing easier.

If you do not have time for air drying, use a hair dryer but be careful. Choose a sparing temperature regime and lather your hair with thermal protection spray or foam.

Using a hair dryer do not dry up your hair completely to reduce harmful temperature influence. Before styling let it cool completely.
