The inaugural edition of Camp Bestival was held in 2008. Its line-up included renowned artists and bands such as Kate Nash, Flaming Lips, Chuck Berry, and others. Although there were some issues such as overcrowding, it won the Best New Festival Award from the UK Festival Awards. Camp Bestival continued to grow and won the Best Family Festival Award in 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014.
Camp Bestival is a multi-genre music festival that encompasses a variety of genres and styles, from rock and folk music to dubstep and EDM. Famous artists and bands that have performed at Camp Bestival invlude Basement Jaxx, Sinead O’Connor, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Clean Bandit, Blondie, Ed Sheeran, Billy Bragg, The Human League, PJ Harvey, Florence + The Machine, Ellie Goulding, Will Young, Tinchy Stryder, Lee Mack, Lee “Scratch” Perry, House of Pain, Kool and the Gang, and many others.
Of course, the music line-up isn’t all it has to offer. Camp Bestival prides itself on offering some of the best kids and family entertainment. According to the organizers, kids are king at Camp Bestival. The kids zone offers an avalanche of activities for children of all ages, including hands-on workshops, bikes and go-carts, bouncy castles, games, live performances, storytelling sessions, Kids’ Disco, interactive art installations, special areas for toddlers and teenagers, contests and competitions, sports, Science Tent, Art Town, and more.
Camp Bestival doesn’t focus solely on music. Alongside the music line-up, it features DJ sets, comedy, musicals, dance, literary readings, circus, and more. The festival program is packed with attractions and activities for visitors of all ages.
