Parents' Day in the USA Date in the current year: July 28, 2024

Parents' Day in the USA The fourth Sunday in July is Parents' Day in the USA. This holiday is a kind of combination of Father's Day and Mother's Day.

The holiday was established in 1994 by President Bill Clinton as the day that recognizes, uplifts and supports the role of parents in the rearing of children. This holiday is supported by the Unification Church, that also celebrates it, but on a different date.

According to Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the United States Supreme Court Justice, Parents' Day is very important and one day it will replace Mother's Day and Father's Day. This observance is more consistent, because it minimizes traditional sex-based differences in parental roles. But as far as Mother's Day and Father's Day are very popular in the USA, Parents' Day won't replace them very soon.

American observance Parents' Day became popular in other countries. For example, this day is observed in South Korea, but it is held annually on May 8. And the United Nations created Global Day of Parents, that is observed on June 1.
