Day of Inventors and Innovators in Russia and Belarus Day of Inventors and Innovators (also known as Day of Inventors and Rationalizers) is a professional holiday celebrated in Russia and Belarus on the last Saturday in June. It was first established in the Soviet Union in 1957.

Day of Inventors and Innovators was first celebrated in 1957 by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1979, the holiday gained national status. For years, it had been celebrated in all republics of the Soviet Union.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, some republics moved the date of the holiday and/renamed it, and some abolished the celebration. However, the governments of Russia and Belarus decided to continue celebrating Day of Inventors and Innovators on the last Saturday in June.

This holiday is aimed to recognize the contributions of inventors and innovators to the development of science and economy. It is marked with official events such as awards ceremonies. The most outstanding innovators and inventors are awarded with medals, honorary titles and valuable prizes.
