The Russian Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops correspond to the Chemical Corps of the United States Army. They are responsible for the alike activities during the battles. The only difference is in the date of their foundation.

The Russian Troops were founded on November 13, 1913 as the Chemical Troops. After the development of the biological and nuclear weapons the responsibility of the troops was enlarged and in 1992 they were renamed to the current name.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin established this observance by Presidential Decree in 2006. The government organizes no special events, this professional day is mainly observed by the personnel of the troops.
