National Strawberry Sundae Day Date in the current year: July 7, 2016

National Strawberry Sundae Day July is National Ice Cream Month in the United States and so many food holidays that pay homage to various types of ice cream and ice cream desserts are celebrated in July. For instance, July 7 is National Strawberry Sundae Day.

The sundae is a popular ice cream dessert made with one or several scoops of ice cream (typically vanilla although over flavors can also be used) topped with fruit syrup or sweet sauce. It may also be topped with other ingredients such as fruit and berries, whipped cream, sprinkles, and maraschino cherries.

During the summer months, fresh fruit sundaes are especially popular. They are made with chopped or sliced seasonal fruit that are sometimes sugared and let to sit for some time to form a sweet syrup. Strawberry sundae is one of the most popular fresh fruit sundae variations, no wonder there is a holiday devoted to it.

To celebrate National Strawberry Sundae Day, go out to your favorite ice cream parlor or make a strawberry sundae at home. Here is a recipe for all fans of homemade fresh fruit sundaes.
