Autosport International was inaugurated in 1989 and has since become extremely popular among both members of the industry and the general public. It is Europe’s largest indoor pre-season motorsport event featuring all categories of track and off-road motor racing, including 2 Hours of Le Mans, BTCC and Formula One. It is the best place to learn about the latest developments in motorsport, automotive and performance engineering technology.
As it’s already been mentioned, the motor show in Birmingham lasts for four days. Two days are trade days, they are reserved to motorsport industry professionals or students studying an engineering or motorsport related course. The other two days are public days, on these days the show is open to the general public. The show has several exhibitor areas including Autosport Engineering, Trade & Technical, Historic Motorsport, National Motorsport, Experience Zone, Oval Racing, and Adrenaline Zone.
One of the show’s main attractions is the Live Action Arena. This is the country’s largest indoor racetrack. Based in the largest hall of the National Exhibition Centre, it can seat 5,000 racing fans. An intense 60-minute show includes spectacular driving demonstrations, racing action, record-breaking stunts and celebrity appearances. The organizers describe it as “petrolhead heaven”.
Other dedicated features of Autosport International include the Autorsport Stage with live interviews and Q&A sessions with celebrity guests, the F1 Racing Display, the Dunlop MSA BTCC Display, the Wales Rally GB feature, the Coys Auction of historic and iconic road and race cars, the International Business Lounge and MIA Members’ Area, and more.
Autosport International attracts thousands of visitors every year, offering to see the fastest race cars, biggest racing stars and amazing live action. For members of the motorsport industry, the show is a perfect opportunity to meet, network and do business as well as showcase their latest projects and achievements.
In 2021, the event was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
