The Regina Folk Festival (RFF) is an annual folk music festival that takes place in the Canadian city of Regina, Saskatchewan. This is a three-day outdoor event held on the second weekend in August. It attracts around 20,000 people each year.

The Regina Folk Festival is the longest-running music festival in Western Canada. Its first edition was held in 1969 on the local campus of the University of Saskatchewan. The festival was deemed such a success that it was decided to hold it annually. The Regina Guild of Folk Arts (RGFA) was created to manage the festival. Since its inception, the guild has continued to present both the Regina Folk Festival and a series of music performances held throughout the year (the Regina Folk Festival Concert Series).

For the first sixteen years of its existence, the Regina Folk Festival was held at various indoor venues. Since 1985, the festival has been held outdoors in historic Victoria Park in the center of downtown Regina.

The line-up of the Regina Folk Festival includes both renowned artists and up-and-coming musicians. For the latter, participation in the festival is an opportunity to showcase themselves in front of a wide audience. Notable artists and bands who have performed at the festival include Buck 65, Los de Abajo, Iris DeMent, Michael Franti, Bruce Cockburn, Blue Rodeo, Utah Phillips, Niyaz, Feist, Ani DiFranco, Steve Earle, Tegan & Sara, José González, and others.

Along with concerts, the Regina Folk Festival hosts an amazing Arts Market, Food Court, Children’s Area, and Beer Garden. The Arts Market features various vendors who offer a great selection of jewelry and accessories, handmade cosmetics, art, and other items. The Food Court offers a wide range of delicious meals and snacks, including traditional cuisine from around the world. The RFF Children’s Area features music, dancing and crafts for kids of all ages.

One of the highlights of the Regina Folk Festival is a spectacular parade led by one of the headliners. Participating artists march through Victoria Park, creating a festive mood. For those festival-goers who can’t stay for the evening concert for some reason, the parade is a great opportunity to see at least some of the performers and have a good time.
