The term “juggalo” refers to a fan of the hip hop duo Insane Clown Posse or any other Psychopathic Records hip hop group. It originated in 1994 during a live performance by Insane Clown Posse. Juggalos have developed their own subculture with unique characteristics, slang, and idioms.
The Gathering of the Guggalos was founded by American rapper Robert Bruce, the older brother of Joseph Bruce of Insane Clown Posse. The first festival was held in Novi, Michigan. It was a two-day event that attracted more than 7,000 fans. The festival has moved several times since its inception. As of 2017, the Gathering of the Juggalos takes place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
What is the Gathering of the Guggalos famous for? First and foremost, it has an impressive line-up featuring the entire label roster of Psychopathic Records, as well as numerous underground artists and well-known performers and groups. Notable guest performers at the festival have included Ice Cube, Tila Tequila, Busta Rhymes, Xzibit, Onyx, Method Man & Redman, and more. The Gathering has also featured celebrity hosts.
