The St. Moritz Gourmet Festival is an annual gourmet food festival held in the world-famous Alpine resort of St. Moritz, Grisons, Switzerland. The festival was founded in 1994 by Reto Mathis, a Swiss chef who took over his father’s restaurant that year and wanted to host a special event to introduce a wide audience to gourmet foods. Today, the St. Moritz Gourmet Festival is one of the largest events of its kind in Europe.

The St. Moritz Gourmet Festival is held every year in late January and/or early February. It lasts for 5 days, attracting about 3,500 attendees from all over Switzerland and abroad to beautiful St. Moritz. Due to its favorable location, this resort enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year, so it’s a perfect location for upscale events such as a world-famous gourmet festival.

Every year the organizers of the festival invite ten national and international chefs working in Michelin starred restaurants. The guest chefs visit the St. Moritz Gourmet Festival to surprise the public with exciting practical demonstrations, workshops and tastings. The festival is held in several hotels across St. Moritz. The master chefs of all partner hotels participate in the festival and each of them always invites a guest chef.

The program of the festival features several main events. They include Welcome Cocktail Party at the Carlton Hotel, gourmet dinners at various luxury hotels, Funky Kitchen Party at the Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, and The Great Valser Gourmet Finale in Corviglia. Overall, there are more than 40 enjoyable events featuring top-class guest chefs.

One of the festival’s highlights is the annual Young Endagine Talents competition for the young talents inaugurated in 2012. It is usually held shortly before the festival. The competition is open to apprentices from the Engadine region in their third year. The winner is chosen by an expert jury and announced during the Great BMW Gourmet Finale. One of the prizes is an internship with a renowned master chef.
