Monopoly Events, the organizer of Comic Con Scotland Aberdeen, is an event management company based in Manchester. Founded in 2015 by Andy Kleek, Monopoly Events produces three main types of events: Comic Con, For the Love of..., and Comic Con Mania. For the Love of... events are genre-specific conventions; Comic Con events are large, multi-fandom fan conventions; and Comic Con Mania events are one-day, family-friendly events held in cities that are not large enough for a full-fledged Comic Con.
Monopoly Events first expanded to Scotland in 2018 with Comic Con Edinburgh. Three years later, the company announced the launch of its second Scottish event, Comic Con Scotland North East, in response to interest from other Scottish regions seeking greater local accessibility to Comic Con. After some deliberation, Monopoly Events identified the North East as the best area for a second Comic Con in Scotland and decided to bring the event to Aberdeen. Held on March 12–13, 2022, the first Comic Con Scotland North East was a success. Since then, it has evolved into a recurring fixture and was rebranded as Comic Con Scotland Aberdeen in 2024.
The event’s main highlight each year is its lineup of guest stars, which includes well-known names from film, television, streaming, gaming, anime, and sports entertainment. The 2026 lineup included, for example, Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who, The Sandman), Catherine Tate (Doctor Who), Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica), Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica, Law & Order: UK), Jacob Bertrand (Cobra Kai), Martin Kove (The Karate Kid, Cobra Kai), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Denise Richards (Starship Troopers), David Giuntoli (Grimm), Elizabeth Tulloch (Grimm, The Arrowverse), Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Doom Patrol), Amber Benson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones, The Sandman), and Natalia Tena (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones), among others.
Many of the guests appear in live panels on stage, where they discuss their previous roles and new projects and answer questions from the audience. Anyone with an entry ticket can attend these panels. Celebrity guests also participate in autograph sessions and photo ops. Tickets for autographs and photographs are purchased separately and are not valid without an entry ticket.
Although panels, autograph sessions, and photo ops with celebrity guests are arguably the main attraction at Comic Con Scotland Aberdeen, the convention’s program offers much more. Attendees can enjoy props and set builds, cosplay competitions, retro and modern gaming areas, and trader and artist areas with unique gifts.
Like all Monopoly Events conventions, Comic Con Scotland Aberdeen offers several types of entry tickets. There are Saturday, Sunday, and weekend tickets, each of which is available in four categories: Diamond Entry, Regular Entry, Concession Entry (ages 5–9), and Toddler Entry (ages 0–4). Although toddler tickets are free, they still need to be “purchased” for capacity purposes.
