Hyper Japan, commonly stylized as HYPER JAPAN, is the United Kingdom's largest festival dedicated to Japanese culture and anime. It is held in London every July. HYPER JAPAN’s team also occasionally organizes a Christmas market in late November.

The first HYPER JAPAN event was held from October 1–3, 2010 at the Old Truman Brewery. It attracted about 13,000 Japanese culture fans. The convention has been growing steadily since its inception. The main event now draws over 85,000 attendees and the Christmas Market has an attendance of about 50,000. HYPER JAPAN is held at Tobacco Dock, a historic warehouse in the East End that regularly hosts large events. Past venues include Earl’s Court, Olympia and The O2.

HYPER JAPAN celebrates everything Japanese, including traditional art, national cuisine, modern street fashion, anime and manga, video games, cosplay, j-rock and j-pop, and more. The program of the convention includes EAT JAPAN (a food festival focused on Japanese cuisine that features a food court, sake tastings and culinary workshop), an anime & manga exhibition, panels and meetings with special guests, and many other exciting events and activities.

HYPER JAPAN is divided into several theme areas dedicated to various aspects of Japanese traditional and pop culture. They include EAT JAPAN area that has already been mentioned above, Game & Anime Park dedicated to otaku activities and merchandise, HYPER Kawaii area for lovers of Japanese fashion, Culture Area showcasing Japanese art, design and literature, Shopping Area, and more.

The festival also features various activities for cosplayers, including the well-known COSParade catwalk show and a cosplay contest. Those who want to get hands-on experience have a chance to participate in the J-Culture Activity Workshop dedicated to Japanese crafts. The workshop comprises several sessions featuring experts in traditional Japanese handicrafts.

HYPER JAPAN is a perfect place to learn something new about Japanese culture and make new friends. Three days packed with events and activities offer a unique experience you shouldn’t miss!

In 2021, the event was held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
