The Saint Petersburg International Book Fair, also known as the Saint Petersburg International Book Salon, is organized by the Government of Saint Petersburg and the Russian Book Union. The fair is supported by the Federal Agency of Press and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation (former Ministry of Press, Broadcasting and Mass Communications).
The program of the book salon consists of two equally important parts. The first one is a large trade fair for books featuring Russian and international exhibitors. Hundreds of publishers and booksellers showcase fiction and non-fiction books, periodicals, and other media.
The second part of the program features cultural and industry events. Cultural events at the Saint Petersburg International Book Fair are designed for a wide audience of book lovers. They include lectures, workshops and masterclasses, round tables, exhibitions, quizzes, interactive performances, book launches, meetings with authors and translators, book signings, film screenings, and many more. There’s something here for everyone!
The fair has a special Kids’ Area designed to popularize reading among children. Most events at this area are organized by local children’s libraries. They include meetings with writers, public readings, exhibitions, special events for children and their parents, exciting workshops, quests and contests, etc.
The Saint Petersburg International Book Fair features plenty of networking events for industry professionals. Its professional audience includes publishers and booksellers, literary critics and journalists, authors and translators, illustrators and designers, librarians and educators. Business events at the fair give an opportunity to establish new business contacts, trade publishing and translation rights, and find new markets.
