The Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest is a sister festival to the Canstatter Volksfest, a three-week autumn festival. Both festivals are held on the 35 hectare festival area in the Bad Cannstatt district called the Cannstatter Wasen. The spring festival is slightly smaller than the autumn one and therefore occasionally referred to as the Kleiner Wasen (small Wasen). The festival features beer tastings, a variety of fairground rides and attractions, a traders’ market, vendors stalls, and more.
The Stuttgart Spring Festival kicks off on a Saturday with the traditional opening ceremony and keg tapping. The mayor of Stuttgart opens a beer barrel and the festivities begin. The festival offers over a dozen funfair rides including a 47 meter Ferris wheel and a major roller coaster. The program also includes family days with children-friendly activities and attractions (face painting, carousels, clowns), the Hot Air Balloon Race, the Music Fireworks Show, and more.
The Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest hosts a traders’ market with over 50 vendors and artisans who offer household goods, leather goods, textiles, jewelry, cosmetics, gifts and souvenirs, art, herbs and spices, tea, and other goods. The market is perfect for shopping in a relaxed atmosphere.
The admission to the festival is free, but attendees have to pay for all rides, services, food and drinks. On Family Days there are reduced prices on certain activities. The Stuttgart Spring Festivals is open 12 am to 11 pm Monday till Friday, 12 am to 12 pm Friday, 11 am to 12 pm Saturday, and 11 am to 11 pm Sunday.
