The London Super Comic Convention (LSCC), also known as the London Super Comic Con, is a multi-genre convention that encompasses various aspects of contemporary pop culture but focuses on comics. The first convention was held on February 25 and 26, 2012 at ExCeL London. Among the special guests was Stan Lee, one of the world’s most famous comic book writers and the chairman of Marvel Comics.
In just a couple of years, the London Super Comic Convention has become one of the largest comic conventions in the United Kingdom, with an attendance of over 20,000 (as of 2015). The convention features publishers and other exhibitors from all over the UK and other European countries, as well as the United States and Australia. Past exhibitors have included 2000AD, Atlas Comics, Avatar Press, Markosia Enterprises, Panini Comics, Zenescope Entertainment, and more.
Most comic book lovers come to the convention to meet their favorite creators. Comic book artists and writers who’ve attended LSCC include J. Scott Campbell (The Amazing Spider-Man), Neal Adams (various Marvel and DC projects), George Perez (The Avengers, Wonder Woman, Teen Titans), Dave Gibbons (Watchmen, Green Lantern), and others. The guest list also features directors and screenwriters known for their work on sci-fi, fantasy and superhero movies.
Along with panels and meet and greets featuring the guests, the program of the London Super Comic Convention includes an Artists Alley, various cosplay events such as the London Super Costume Competition, a small press section, and dealers from across the UK and abroad offering comic-related memorabilia including thousands of back issues, toys and action figures, games, T-shirts, etc. Originally held at ExCeL London, the event has since moved to Business District Centre.
