Children's Day in Malaysia Date in the current year: October 26, 2024
Children's Day was celebrated in Malaysia for the first time in 1959 and it was the last Saturday in October. Since then the date hasn't been changed. Annually President of Malaysia addresses children and their parents in a solemn speech, thus opening the festive event.
Every year the government of Malaysia organizes special events to celebrate childhood and children. A special ceremony takes place in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, where the outstanding children receive their awards.
During the last decade Malaysia made a significant progress regarding children's well-being. A number of health programs, including immunization in urban and rural areas, sanitation and water improvement, led to a steady decline of the mortality rate among children under the age of 5. Still there's much space for improvement and the Malaysian government has to pay much attention to elimination of the existing problems.
