Unity Day Date in the current year: October 23, 2024
PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center started the National Bullying Prevention Month campaign in 2006. Unity Day is part of PARCER's anti-bullying campaign, it's held on the third or fourth Wednesday in October. This special day was created to unite all people in schools, communities and online against bulling. Those who don't actively participate in the national movement can express their support by wearing orange.
The color orange was chosen to represent Unity Day because it is described as vibrant, warm and inviting, and is commonly associated with safety and visibility. Every schoolboy or schoolgirl is encouraged to wear something orange on this day. The support of Unity Day may be showed even beyond the school – adults are encouraged to wear orange in the workplace, community and home.
The celebration of Unity Day has gained support from celebrities, including Ellen DeGeneres and Anderson Cooper. This day is also supported and promoted by several national partners, including Disney/ABC Family and Cartoon Network.
