The term “scallop” is applied to any one of numerous species of marine bivalve lamellibranch mollusks with a radially ribbed shell. The adductor muscle of these mollusks is also called scallop. It is this muscle that is consumed as food. It is meaty and white. Scallops can be baked, fried, steamed, grilled, deep-fried, or served in a soup.
Scallops usually are not cheap, so most people eat them only occasionally. The National Fried Scallops Day is the perfect occasion to indulge yourself with a delicious seafood dish which you can easily cook yourself following out simple recipe.
Mix 1/2 cup bread crumbs, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp pepper, and 1/8 tsp paprika. Rinse 1 1/2 lb. sea scallops and roll thoroughly in bread crumb mixture. In a skillet, heat 1/2 cup butter until frothy. Put scallops in the skillet and saute till lightly browned.
Gently place scallops on a plate. Add 1/4 cup white wine to butter in skillet and boil gently for 1 minute, stirring. Pour the sauce over scallops. Serve with a side of rice. This recipe makes four servings of fried scallops.Remind me with Google Calendar
