World Youth Skills Day Date in the current year: July 15, 2024

World Youth Skills Day World Youth Skills Day, that annually falls on July 15, is one of new UN International Days of observance. It was established by the UN General Assembly on November 11, 2014.

World Youth Skills Day was initiated in the UN by Sri Lanka. Representative of Sri Lanka highlighted importance of youth skill development at global level. Resolution on this holiday was adopted almost unanimously.

A high level of youth unemployment and underemployment is an acute problem. Majority of young people, who cannot employ, live in the developing countries. Recognition of this problem and implementation of different programs is aimed at enhancement of youth's ability to make informed life and work choices.

The UN General Assembly calls on member states observe World Youth Skills Day in an appropriate manner. Numerous governmental organizations, educational, volunteering and public institutions should organize different activities, that can help young people overcome obstacles regarding their employment and skills improvement.
