Day of Bank Employees in Ukraine Day of Bank Employees (Bank Employee Day) is a Ukrainian professional holiday celebrated on May 20 each year. It was established in 2004 in order to highlight the important role of the banking system in the development of the country's economy and maintenance of financial stability.

Ukrainian banking system was officially created on December 22, 1917, when the Kyiv office of the Russian State Bank was transformed into the Ukrainian State Bank. During the Soviet era, the National Bank of Ukraine was a branch of the Central Bank of the USSR.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the National Bank of Ukraine was re-established as the national bank of the newly independent republic. In 1994–1996, a monetary reform was held, introducing the new national currency of Ukraine – the hryvnia.

The main event dedicated to the Day of Bank Employees is held at the National Bank of Ukraine. It typically includes congratulatory speeches, presentation of honorary awards and certificates, and a celebratory concert.

Many Ukrainian banks hold their own celebrations. Bank employees are congratulated on their professional holiday, thanked for their hard work and wished happiness, good health, success, professional achievements and family well-being.
