Justice Authorities Employees Day in Tajikistan Date in the current year: April 20, 2024

The system of government in Tajikistan is based on the separation of powers into three independent branches that control and balance each other out: legislative, executive and judicial. The justice authorities of Tajikistan belong to the executive branch of the government. They work closely with the judiciary, but they have no authority to interfere with court proceedings or to influence the decisions of the judiciary.

The Ministry of Justice is the top justice authority in the Republic of Tajikistan. It is an executive agency responsible for the implementation of the state policy and legal regulation in a number of areas, including:

• rule-making
• provision of legal aid to citizens
• legal propaganda
• execution of criminal penalties
• forensic examination
• other areas of justice set forth by the current legislation

The Ministry of Justice is responsible for delivering and maintaining justice along with the judicial authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan. It ensures the compliance of laws and regulations with the current legislation to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens. The Ministry of Justice carries out its activities according to the Constitution, constitutional laws and other laws of the Republic Tajikistan, as well as other applicable legislation.

The system of justice authorities of Tajikistan includes the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice, the Main Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Penalties, the Directorate of Justice of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, regional departments of justice, as well as state notaries, civil registration departments and offices, the Republican Center of Forensic Examination, the Legal Aid Center, and other justice institutions and organizations.

The Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan has the Qualification Committee responsible for issuing law licenses and conducting regular certification of practicing lawyers; the Department for State Registration of Public Organizations and Political Parties; and the Sector for State Registration of Encumbrances.

Employees of Tajikistani justice authorities originally celebrated their professional holiday on the same day as judges and other court employees. Today, however, there are two separate professional holidays: Justice Authorities Employees Day is observed on April 20, while Court Staff Day is celebrated on October 26. In addition, there is Defense Lawyer Day celebrated annually on May 26.

Justice Authorities Employees Day in Tajikistan is marked by concerts, awards ceremonies, meetings of justice authorities veterans, and other festive events where employees of justice authorities are congratulated on their professional holiday and accept gratitude for their hard work and dedication to delivering and maintaining justice.
