Marines Day in Russia Marines Day is celebrated in Russia annually on November 27. This is one of the numerous Russian military professional days, that is celebrated on the official level since 1996.

Unlike many other professional days, Marines Days wasn't established by President of the Russian Federation. The corresponding decree was issued and signed by the Commander-in-Chief Admiral Felix Gromov in 1996. The date of celebration was chosen to commemorate the date, when Peter the Great issued a decree on creation of the first marines regiment in 1705.

The Russian Marines is the amphibious force of the Russian Navy. It participated in number of wars, that Russia fought since 1705, including Napoleonic Wars, Crimean War, the Russo-Japanese War, World War I and World War II. Nowadays it forms part of a larger institution, the Coastal Defense Forces of the Russian Navy.

Marines Day isn't celebrated in Russia on the national level. No special events are organized, only marines congratulate each other on this holiday.
