The Constituent Assembly was elected by popular vote in 1920 to draft and adopt the constitution of Lithuania in 1922. Aleksandras Stulginskis was elected as chairman of the Assembly, but in fact he became the president of Lithuania.
The Constituent Assembly of Lithuania existed for two years. During this period it accomplished many important issues: the constitution was drafted and adopted, a peace treaty with the Soviet Russia and a border treaty with Latvia were signed, Lithuania became a member of the League of Nations, and a law on land reform was passed.
The Constituent Assembly of Lithuania resigned on October 6, 1922. It passed about 150 laws that were very important for state's future. These laws strengthened the administrative system, laid foundations of the future economic, social and cultural life.Remind me with Google Calendar
