Social Workers’ Day in Ukraine Date in the current year: November 3, 2024

Social Workers’ Day in Ukraine Social Workers’ Day is an official professional holiday in Ukraine celebrated on the first Sunday in November. It was established in 1999 by President Leonid Kuchma, who supported the initiative of Ukrainian social workers.

The term “social workers” is applied to people who are involved in the improvement of the quality of life and well-being of individuals, couples, families, groups, and communities. The scope of social work practice is very wide.

The Ukrainian community of social workers includes employees of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine and regional directorates for social protection, as well as employees of other organizations and institutions, such as the National Employment Service, the Pension Fund, various social insurance funds, etc. Currently, about 150,000 people are involved in social work in Ukraine.

On their professional holiday, Ukrainian social workers are congratulated by their superiors and government officials. Some of them receive special awards and prizes for their outstanding achievements, hard work and dedication. Typically, professional holidays in Ukraine are working days, but Social Workers’ Day always falls on a weekend, so it is a non-working day for most people.
