Research Day in Iran Date in the current year: December 16, 2024

Research Day in Iran Research Day is a professional and cultural observance in Iran held on the 25th day of Azar (December 16 in the Gregorian calendar). The main goal of the holiday is to raise public awareness of the importance of supporting and developing science and technology in Iran.

Research day was initiated by one of the subordinate organizations of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, a conservative-dominated body whose mail goal is to ensure that the culture and education of Iran remains 100% Islamic. The initiative was supported by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran.

Since its establishment in 2000, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology has been organizing the annual Research Week that starts on December 16 (Research Day) and lasts until December 21. Key goals of the Research Week campaign are to facilitate the development of science and technology in Iran, support Iranian scientists, and promote the use of technology in Iranian society.

Research Day and Research Week in Iran are marked with various educational events held both nationwide and at the provincial level. They include, but are not limited to, technology expos and fairs, lectures and workshops, and more. These events aim to draw attention to scientists and their projects, as well as to help technology creators and producers connect with sponsors and distributors.
