National Day of School Failure Prevention National Day of School Failure Prevention is a French national observance, that annually falls on September 23. This observance was created under initiative of the French organization AFEV in 2008.

Estimated 150,000 French students dropout without obtaining general certificates of secondary education, consequently they can not obtain higher education certificates. The alike problem exists in other countries around the world.

The idea of raising public awareness of this problem belongs to the members of the French organization AFEV (Association de la fondation étudiante pour la ville). They initiated observance of this day, that is now supported in France by an extensive network of non-governmental and governmental organizations, mass media, families and parents. The initiative is also coordinated by UNICEF.

There is no single standard of secondary education, however, international organization conduct special researches to follow changes in the sphere of secondary education both on international and national levels. This contributes improvement of national systems of secondary education in France as well as in other countries around the world.
