Artist's Day in Ukraine Artist's Day is a Ukrainian professional holiday celebrated on the second Sunday in October. It was officially established in 1998 by President Leonid Kuchma, who supported the initiative of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Artist's Day was established to recognize the role of artists in the development of Ukrainian fine arts and the revival of national traditions in contemporary art. On this day, people also honor outstanding Ukrainian artists of the past who contributed to the development of art in Ukraine, such as Taras Shevchenko, Dmitry Levitzky, Mykola Pymonenko, Volodymyr Orlovsky.

Artist's Day is the professional holiday of all Ukrainian painters, illustrators, sculptors, printmakers. It is celebrated with art exhibitions and other cultural events. On the occasion of the holiday, distinguished artists are awarded with state awards and titles, such as Honored Artist of Ukraine and People's Artist of Ukraine.

Many events are coordinated by the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. The Union is a national organization that represents over 3800 professional artists, art critics, and art historians. It was officially established in 1938. The Union focuses on reviving and developing Ukrainian artistic traditions.
