Global Information Governance Day Date in the current year: February 15, 2024

Global Information Governance Day Global Information Governance Day (GIGD) is an international observance held on the third Thursday in February. It aims to raise awareness of information governance. This term refers to the enforcement of desirable behavior in creating, sharing, storing, using, archiving, and deleting corporate information.

February is information governance month. It is coordinated by the American Health Information Management Association, a professional organization that focuses on effective management of medical record and health data needed for the delivery of quality healthcare.

Global Information Governance Day was established to raise awareness of the importance of information governance and to educate a wide audience about its main principles. It is a chance to remind multiple companies that incorporation of information governance into their business processes is one of the best ways to protect corporate information.

GIGD is promoted and coordinated by a group of organizations that specialize in information governance, such as RSD and Information Governance Initiative. GIGD events include (but are not limited to) media campaigns, discussions, trainings, seminars, etc.
