National Tree Planting Day in Iran Iran, as well as many other countries around the world, celebrates National Tree Planting Day. This observance annually falls on March 5.

Iran is a semi-desert country and the rapid process of urbanization leads to forest reducing. Trees play an important role in improvement of air in big cities and also decorate their streets. Annually the top officials of Iran try to draw public attention to the importance of trees for the environment of Iran, that is why National Tree Planting Day is celebrated.

This day opens the Week of Natural Resources in Iran. During this week children learn more about the value of the natural resources and their protection. The government of Iran prepares special tree planting events and encourages everyone to participate. Senior officials plant the trees, thus encouraging other citizens follow their steps. Also free saplings are distributed among schools and citizens to enable their participation in this observance.
