Notaries Day in Ukraine Date in the current year: September 2, 2024

Notaries Day in Ukraine Notaries Day is a Ukrainian professional holiday celebrated on September 2 each year. It was established by President of Ukraine Victor Yuschenko in 2010 as an initiative of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

Civil-law notaries, also known as Latin notaries, are lawyers of noncontentious private civil law who are responsible for drafting, taking, and recording legal instruments for private parties, providing legal advice and giving attendance in person. Notaries play an important law in the legal system of many European countries, Ukraine being one of them.

The idea of celebrating Ukrainian Notaries Day was first voiced in 2007 by the Notary Chamber of Ukraine, the non-governmental, nonprofit professional association of Ukrainian notaries. However, the holiday was established only three years later, when the Notary Chamber gained the support of the Ministry of Justice.

September 2 was designated as Notaries Day to honor the contribution of Ukrainian notaries to the development of the legal state (Rechtsstaat) and the protection of rights and legitimate interests of Ukrainian citizens, enterprises, institutions and organizations. It is not a non-working day unless it falls on a weekend.
