Armed Forces Day in Lithuania Armed Forces Day is celebrated in Lithuania annually on November 23. The celebration of this holiday is marked by military parades, military equipment expositions, concerts, decoration ceremonies etc.

The Lithuaninan Armed Forces were founded by then-Prime Minister Augustinas Voldemaras on November 23, 1918. He signed the Order giving a legal basis for formation of the armed forces.

The present-day Lithuanian Armed Forces were reestablished on April 25, 1990. Now it consists of the Air Force, Land Force, Naval Force and Special Operations Force. The Armed Forces of Lithuania follow the universal compulsory conscription. Men from the age of 18 to 55 have to serve for 9 months.

Cerebration of Armed Forces Day is a very important event in Lithuania, that is why various events are organized in its capital, Vilnius. Secular celebration of Armed Forces Day includes concerts, fairs and exhibitions, dedicated to the solders, who protect unity and sovereignty of Lithuania.
