International Men's Day Date in the current year: November 19, 2024
The first mentions about celebration of International Men's Day are dated back to the 1960s, but the idea wasn't supported. However, in 1992 Prof. Thomas Oaster created the holiday and the first celebration took place on February 7, but soon the holiday was forgotten. It was revived in Trinidad and Tobago as a counterweight to International Women's Day. The first official celebration of this holiday took place on November 19, 1999. Since then the date remains unchanged.
Celebration of International Men's Day raises public awareness of the gender discrimination, health problems and social issues, that men face everyday. This holiday is also designed to celebrate the manhood and the fact of being a man. Boys and teenagers also celebrate this holiday.
Every year the celebration of this holiday is organized under a certain theme. Over 70 countries around the world participate in the celebration.
