It is unknown why this date was chosen for the holiday, given that the strawberry season is not in September. Perhaps the National Strawberry Cream Pie Day is indented to remind us of summer while winter is slowly approaching. Besides, nowadays strawberries are available in supermarkets almost all the year round.
There are many variations of this pie made with cream cheese, custard, or whipped cream. You can buy or cook whatever variation you like. Try out the following easy recipe. In a large bowl, mix 8 ounce cream cheese, 1/4 cup white sugar, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract until smooth. Stir 3/4 cup mashed fresh strawberries into mixture.
Beat 1 cup heavy whipping cream and 1/4 cup confectioner's sugar until stiff peaks form. Fold whipped cream into cream cheese with strawberries until evenly mixed. Fold in 1/4 cup sliced fresh strawberries. Spoon mixture into 9-inch prepared graham cracker crust. Put in the refrigerator and cool at least 3 hours before serving.
As you see, the pie is really easy to make, you won't even have to bake it. Enjoy your holiday!Remind me with Google Calendar
