Grandparents' Day in Taiwan Date in the current year: August 25, 2024

Grandparents' Day in Taiwan Grandparents, as well as mothers and fathers, deserve a special honoring holiday. There is such a day in Taiwan and it's called Grandparents Day. It's annually observed on the last Sunday in August.

Strengthening family bonds is the main objective of Grandparents' Day, initiated in Taiwan in 2010. The government of Taiwan decided to remind children about the important role that their grandparents play in their life and chose a perfect day for its celebration. School starts in Taiwan in September, thus children can spend a lot of time with their grandparents on the last Sunday in August.

Annually many activities are organized by the government to encourage children and grandparents spend more time together. For instance, special vouchers for grandparents shopping or traveling with their grandchildren. All participants get special offers at supermarkets and department stores or enjoy discounts on hotel and travel packages.

Many free concerts and festivals are also organized by county and city governments. Young activists also organize special activities to draw public attention to this holiday.
