Traffic Patrol Day in Russia Date in the current year: July 3, 2024

Traffic Patrol Day in Russia July 3 is Traffic Patrol Day in Russia. It was officially established in 2009 by Minister of Internal Affairs Rashid Nurgaliyev and has been celebrated each year ever since.

The date of July 3 was chosen because on that day in 1936, traffic patrol was created as a separate department in the Soviet Union. Before that, traffic had been regulated by a unit within Soviet militsiya (militia). In modern Russia, traffic regulation is carried out by Main Directorate for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The Directorate is sometimes referred to as traffic police, but this name is not official.

Traffic patrol operates under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, along with the police and the Internal Troops. Its operation is regulated by the Presidential Decree “On Additional Measures to Ensure Road Safety” issued in 1998. Russian traffic patrol comprises several departments responsible for traffic regulation, investigation of traffic accidents, technical inspection and registration of vehicles, organization of driving tests and issuance of driver's licenses etc.Remind me with Google Calendar
