Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra is the eldest child of King Haakon VIII and Queen consort Mette-Marit. She was born on January 21, 2004, when her parents were the crown prince and princess of Norway. Princess Ingrid Alexandra graduated from high school in 2023, completed her mandatory military service in 2025, and enrolled at the University of Sydney.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra has a younger brother, Prince Sverre Magnus. She also has an older half-brother from her mother’s previous relationship, Marius Borg Høiby, who was born in 1997. Since he has no right to inherit the throne, Ingrid Alexandra used to be second in line to the throne after her father.

Thus, she is expected to become Norway’s first reigning female monarch since Queen Margaret I of Denmark, who was Queen consort of Norway from 1363 to 1380 and Queen regnant from 1388 to 1412.
