National Daiquiri Day Date in the current year: July 19, 2024

National Daiquiri Day National Daiquiri Day is celebrated on July 19. Daiquiri is a popular rum-based cocktail, which is believed to have been one of the favorite drinks of Ernest Hemingway and John Kennedy.

Daiquiri was supposedly invented in Cuba. Its invention is usually ascribed to Jennings Cox, American mining engineer. Congressman William A. Chanler is credited with popularization of this cocktail in clubs in New York in the early 1900s. But daiquiri became really popular in the second half of the 20th century.

The main ingredients of daiquiri are rum, lime juice, and sugar or other sweetener. A basic daiquiri is made with 9 parts white rum, 5 parts lime juice, and 3 parts simple syrup and served in a chilled cocktail glass.

There are many variations of daiquiri. For example, if you add strawberry to a regular daiquiri you will get a strawberry daiquiri. Banana daiquiri, pineapple daiquiri, blueberry daiquiri, and other fruit daiquiris are made in the same manner.

Daiquiri floridita is made with maraschino liqueur. Hemingway daiquiri, also known as papa doble, consists of white rum, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and maraschino liqueur and is made without sugar.

To celebrate National Daiquiri Day, go out to a bar and treat yourself to your favorite variation of daiquiri!
